Gingerbread Cookies

 Ingredients
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup molasses
4-4 ½ cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon cloves
3 ½ teaspoons ginger


  1. Cream butter, sugar and molasses together
  2. Sift flour & soda, add to batter and mix well
  3. Stir in spices and mix well
  4. Form dough into 2 balls and cover with wax paper. Refrigerate overnight
  5. Roll out dough on floured board and cut out with cookie cutters
  6. Place on greased cookie sheet
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes
  8. Decorate
